The Master Cleanse by Stanley Burroughs
So I am proud to announce that I am officially on my 5th day of The Master Cleanse!
For those who don't know what the hack it is - it is a detox program that consists out of a lemonade diet during the day, laxative tea at night, sea salt water flush in the morning and that's it! No solid foods, no coffee, no alcohol, nothing except the special lemonade that could be drank 6 to 12 times daily depending on how much your body needs to maintain its energy and eliminate hunger. This liquid detox diet can last 10 to 40 days again depending on your needs. At this point I am shooting for 10 days but may do 14. I know that my digestive problems have been bothering me for quite a long time now, resulting in a longer detoxication for better results.
I am doing pretty well and have no major issues while on the cleanse. Mainly because I have been on my gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy-free diet for about 7 months prior to the cleanse. It led me to experience less cravings this time around and doesn't give me serious detox side effects. Those who live a more unhealthy lifestyle may be greeted by side effects along the way like acne, rashes, spots and so on.
The only hard time I find is with my lax tea. I drink it right before going to bed and then I wake up early in the morning around 4-5am with abdominal pains that last me for at least an hour. In result of that, I decided to steep my tea for a shorter period of time (6 min instead of 10) and today due to this change I had my first so-so fine morning )) Going strong!
For one portion of the lemonade you'll need:
8oz of spring water
2 Tablespoons of freshly squeezed organic lemon juice
2 Tablespoons of Grade B Organic Maple Syrup
1/10 or a pinch of organic ground Cayenne Pepper
Mix it all together and drink it. It actually tasted pretty delicious )) In a couple of days on the master cleanse this lemonade will literally seam like a magical elixir to you )) It does to me now lol
And it is also about the actual experience! Pore it into your favorite glass to make the process so much more special ))
This detox program is meant to heal you from any of the discomfort that you experience daily. That could be digestive problems, liver problems, headaches, fatigue, joints pain, chronic cold symptoms and so on. The whole point behind it is when your body doesn't get any fat or protein into its system from the solids it automatically gets into a survival mode, which means it starts eating itself from within. Our bodies are so wonderfully built that instead of eating itself randomly, it first eats the bad cells. Since all the toxins are located in our fat cells that is what the body starts eating first. That is why this program lasts 40 days max because, supposedly, after 40 days is when the body starts eating the good cells too.
Here is the copy of the actual book that I found online
Here is a one more helpful reference for you
Enough with the theory )) I am still only in the middle of this practice and hope to really see the results. If not a full cure then at least a clean colon, clean mind and a healthy energy!

Lifestyle
Lately all I've been eating is vegetables and fruits nonstop! Like practically munching on them! No particular food during the day except carrots, zucchini, celery, avocado, apples, banana and cucumber. Not sure why exactly this is all my body craves but I can't complain. Fruits and veggies make you feel fuller and less hungry due to the amounts of fiber they consist of. Amazing trick! Hungry? Get these mini carrots (preferably organic - they taste better!) and dip them into hummus for fun if you like. Craving sweets? Get a pear, cut it into small pieces and eat it with a fork. It gives your mind an idea of a dessert since you're actually using kitchen supplies but at the same time all you're eating is healthy ))
My next step to a healthy stomach is ground ginger! Buying it tonight

Some news
So I've been following the Candida diet I've mentioned in the previous post for a month now. It is a dairy, sugar free, yeast and corn free diet. I do feel about 50% better, which to me is a great improvement! I've also lost a few pounds, which happens naturally when you cut all the sugar and alcohol out of your daily routine (not that I had planned on loosing any, but my doctor let me know it would happen any way). Now I'm in a constant search for new recipe ideas due to chocolate and sugar cravings. I surprisingly don't go too nuts over them but it happens occasionally ))
We had a Sandy storm here in NY which still continues to affect the city. It is getting slowly back on feet tho. Had to stay home for a few days with no power so of course that's when my cravings were the strongest lol Understandable enough ))

Candida diet
At first I thought that may be I should start a different blog specifically for this new topic of mine. I'm sure there are people out there that would share the same interests and dilemmas with me. May be I still will, but first I decided to share my news here just because it is relevant to a "vitamins" part of my blog any way )))
I'm starting a special diet that was recommended to me by my doctor. It is a strict time consuming no fun no bun sort of a diet that is built based on foods I have hidden (notice hidden) allergies to. The diet is basically customized following each patient's individual body reactions to different foods via skin test. Mine specifically consists of yeast free, sugar free, corn free and dairy free products. I am on my fifth day today and so far so good, meaning that at least I'm not suicidal yet ))) I've heard it gets tougher further in.
Grocery shopping during yeast free dairy free corn free diet got more difficult and fun at the same time. Reading all the labels has helped me realize how much "crap" our food market has to offer. There are products out there that may not seam like they have milk or yeast inside but holly cow! I find milk inside of the freaking noodles!!! Go figure...
Thank goodness I am at least allowed to eat wheat, eggs, coffee, soy, oat and nuts (except peanuts), meat and seafood. They really help me throughout the day. Bye-bye my lovely corn chips, Godiva chocolate, wine and cheese (( I will miss you a lot!
Couple of facts I've realized so far:
1. The main thing during this candida battle is to stay occupied so you don't start craving foods. There are temptations all around coming at you from different directions! Social environment, TV commercials, your loved ones and so on. As long as you find what to do until you pass out on your bed - you're good!
2. Another helpful point is to have appropriate foods available next to you at all times. So at work I have my rice cakes, wheat squares, organic vegetable salsa dip and these weird pretzels I found at Trader Joe's. At home I have hummus dip, plantains, rice, fresh organic chicken, eggs and oatmeal. Still looking for more stuff! I cook much more now and actually enjoy it! ))) Because the food is fresh, smells good and is full of vitamins!
3. I pass by sweets at grocery stores almost tearing up. No joke! I loved my japanese ice-cream balls, egg bread with Nutella and so on. Of course it was to be expected so no panic just focus on these delicious rice cakes with scrambled eggs ;)
I'll start a seperate blog to take you through the whole process as a diery with details so I could use it for myself also as a reference later on.
